Antoinette (Toni) Rae Alford Law de Thorn has served as adjunct faculty at the University of Arkansas in Counselor Education and Educational Foundations since 2002. Professional associations include American Educational Research Association, American Counseling Association, American School Counselor Association, Arkansas Counseling Association, Arkansas School Counselor Association, and the Delta Society. Dr. Thorn currently serves as District Hispanic Counselor for the Rogers School District. Prior to moving to Arkansas in 1994, she was employed in private international schools in Norway, Germany, Saudi Arabia, and Mexico. She is a National Board Certified Counselor and Licensed Professional Counselor. She has published articles in Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development, The Rural Educator, Professional School Counseling, and Arkansas Educational Research and Policy Studies Journal. Current and past research focus on school counselors, particularly in the areas of counselor accountability, high stakes testing, counselors’ use and application of data, counseling Latino students, and parental involvement. Additional research has been conducted in the area of animal-assisted therapy and its application to the counseling profession. Dr. Thorn received the Northwest Arkansas School Counselor’s award for Writer of the Year in 2003 and was awarded the Arkansas Counseling Association’s Research Award for 2004.Publications/Presentations:
