Professional Biography:

Professor Farley has more than 40 years of experience in rehabilitation counseling and counselor education, research, and supervision. He is a Licensed Professional Counselor (L.P.C.) and a previous Associate Fellow of the Albert Ellis Institute. He is a member of the American Counseling Association and several other counseling related professional organizations. He has been a faculty member of the University of Arkansas for 34 years and was department head for Educational Leadership, Counseling, and Foundations from July 2003 to August 2006.

Academic Interests and Accomplishments:

Professor Farley has an extensive teaching, research, and service record. He has taught 18 different courses in counseling and currently teaches the Theories of Counseling and Group Dynamics classes for both Counselor Education and Rehabilitation Counseling students. He also teaches the Advanced Group Methods and Theories classes for Ph.D. students. He has in excess of 90 publications and 100 presentations. Professor Farley has been the principal investigator or co-investigator on research teams that have been successful in developing grant proposals that have been awarded external funds in excess of $12 million. In addition to disseminating his research findings through publications and presentations, he has facilitated the utilization of findings by conducting over 250 workshops and seminars across the country for national, regional, and state audiences. Over 3,000 participants from all 50 states have received over 3,500 instructional hours of training on a variety of topic areas related to his research.

Personal Information:

Professor Farley is married and has two children. He is an enthusiastic Razorback fan as well as a fan of professional football (Cowboys) and basketball (Lakers). He loves music, especially Blues, Folk, and Classic Rock. Those who enroll in his classes quickly become familiar with Keb Mo, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Eric Clapton, John Prine, Guy Clark, and lots of “good old-time” rock and roll.
